Here are my roots... Here is my language.
A verse from ‘The Damascene Poem’ by the beloved Nizar Qabbani Illuminating our Identity
During the golden age of Islam, scholars, scientists and artists of global descent were united under an umbrella of knowledge and enlightenment. They left a legacy of scientific advancement, monuments and artifacts of unsurpassed beauty. They belonged not to a common race or creed, but to a shared vision of human advancement and civilization.
In his ‘The Damascene Poem’, the poet Qabbani contemplates the essence of roots and identity. At SACD our ‘roots’ are embedded in a philosophy of unity, cultural diversity and coexistence. Our ‘identity’ is an understanding of who we are and where we come from; to learn, grow and inspire. With every project we learn more about our culture and history.
We celebrate Islamic art and curate experiences creating cultural awareness through living examples. Artists and craftspeople leave imprints of their cultures; Creativity leaves its own legacy. Rooted in a shared Islamic artistic tradition, we envision a 21st century silk route that travels the world, embracing people from all lands and traditions.
